Trip day to day

Embark on a thrilling 6-day sailing journey, where the majestic French coast become your playground. Navigate the beautifull habours like Hon Fleur, Dieppe and Cherbourg. With a reserve day for tide and weather, embrace the spontaneity of the sea, ensuring every moment is tailored for optimal sailing. This isn’t just a trip; it’s a narrative of adventure, skill, and the sheer beauty of sailing in harmony with nature’s rhythm.

Following is an example of how this adventure-trip might unfold:

Set sail from Scheveningen at 16:00, heading towards Stellendam. A 24 NM journey along the South Holland coast. Arrive by 20:00, with time to explore the quaint town and prepare for the journey ahead

At dawn, we set sail  85 NM passage  towards the enchanting Duinkerke. The Dutch and Belgian coasts stretch out before us, a challenge for navigation and sail trimming. The crew hones their skills, arriving by at evening. greeted by the bustling harbor.

Morning light sees us leaving Duinkerke, the French coast beckoning. The day’s sail is a dance with the elements, each tack and jibe honing our skills. Boulogne-sur-Mer greets us at sunset, its historic harbor a reward for our efforts.

We set off as the first light breaks, the Normandy cliffs guiding our way. This 55 NM stretch tests our coastal navigation, the sea’s rhythm becoming our own. By nightfall, Dieppe’s lights welcome us, a beacon after a day of adventure.

The early morning mist shrouds our departure from Dieppe. The Seine Bay stretches out before us, a canvas of shifting tides and winds. Honfleur emerges through the haze, its beauty magnified by the journey’s challenges.

We leave Honfleur at first light, the anticipation of St Vaast driving us forward. The final leg from St Vaast to Cherbourg is a sprint, the crew in sync with the sea’s rhythm. As we enter Port Chantereyne, the tales of historic voyages echo in the wind, marking the end of our adventure.

In the spirit of true sailing, we allocate a reserve day in our 6-day journey, a prudent measure to align with the ever-changing tides and weather. This day is not just a buffer but an integral part of our adventure. It allows us to embrace the natural rhythm of the sea, ensuring we sail with the tide, not against it.

This flexibility is key to a successful voyage, giving us the freedom to adjust our course and timing for the safest and most enjoyable experience. This additional day also offers an opportunity to further explore the French coast, depending on where we find ourselves. Whether it’s an extra morning in the quaint streets of Hon Fleur, a leisurely afternoon sail around Dieppe, or even a spontaneous exploration of a newfound anhorage, this day ensures our journey is not just about reaching destinations, but fully immersing ourselves in the beauty and unpredictability of sailing. Our 7-day narrative, enriched by this reserve day, becomes a true testament to the art of sailing – navigating challenging tides, discovering hidden gems along the French coast, and most importantly, respecting and harmonizing with the powerful forces of nature.
